The Canon of the Old Testament

THE CANON OF THE OLD TESTAMENT

THE word “canon” has come to mean (1) “rule of faith” or the standard, authoritative teaching by which all doctrines were measured; and (2) a list or index. The English word “canon” was derived from the Hebrew qaneh, meaning “reed” or “stalk.” The Greek took over this Semitic word, thus “kanon” in Greek. The root meaning of the word (“reed”) denotes a rule, a measuring stick or an instrument with which to make straight lines.

Because the word “canon” could also means a list or index, the phrase “Canon of Scriptures” is the list of books that belong to the Holy Scriptures or those said to be “canonical.”

How many books that belong to the canon of the Old Testament or those said to be canonical? How many books that belong to the canon of the contemporary Bible? How many books that belong to the Jewish canon? Why limit the number of the canonical books to the number the Jewish canon and the canon of the Septuagint gave?

“THE PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee has shelved a plan to build a sports center in Clark Field, Pampanga, shifting its focus on the sprawling Philippine Arena which is nearing completion in Marilao, Bulacan, as the training hub of national athletes.
“A world-class sports facility owned by the Iglesia ni Cristo and situated next to the north-bound lanes of NLEx, the Philippine Arena is being built on 7.5 hectares of land and will have a dome of 3.6 hectares. It is said to be the largest multipurpose arena in the world…
“The Philippine Arena, which is expected to be completed in the middle of next year, in time for the INC’s 100th year anniversary, is the crown of a huge complex where a hospital, school and stadium are also being built…
“The Philippine Arena has a seating capacity of 55,000 while the construction of the entire complex is worth P9.4 billion, an enormous amount that even the government cannot afford for a sports facility.”

The Fact and Process of Apostasy

The Church in History, Part One:
The Fact and Process of Apostasy

The apostasy of the first century Church of Christ
is indeed prophesied by the Bible
___________________________

THE ISSUE IF there was an apostasy took place in the first century Church of Church is very vital especially for the Roman Catholic Church because if there was, the Catholic Church cannot be the true Church founded by Christ, but the apostatized church because the Catholic Church claims that they succeeded the first century Church of Christ. This is the reason why the Catholic Church is using every possible way to cover the biblical and historical facts of the apostasy that took place in the first century Church of Christ.

Trinity A Different Gospel

Trinity:
A Different Gospel

THE TRINITARIANS KNEW that if they cannot prove that the doctrine of the trinity is biblical, this doctrine cannot be accepted by true Christians because according to Apostles Paul we must condemned the “different gospel.” In Galatians 1:6-8, this is what Apostle Paul said:
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel -  which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!” (Galacia 1:6-8 NIV)

According to the Apostles Paul, “Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.”  The beloved apostle called their teaching as “a different gospel” and admonish the Christians to condemned these teachings.Apostle Peter clearly warned us that false teachers will appear and will bring destructive, untrue doctrines:
"False prophets appeared in the past among the people, and in the same way false teachers will appear among you. They will bring in destructive, untrue doctrines, and will deny the Master who redeemed them, and so they will bring upon themselves sudden destruction." (II Peter 2:1 TEV)
What Apostle Peter calls as “destructive, untrue doctrine” is what Apostle Paul calls as “different gospel,” which is a confused and perverted gospel of Christ. What is an example of what the Lord Jesus Christ taught that “perverted” and “confused” by the false teachers? In John 17:1 and 3, this is what the Lord Jesus Christ said:
“After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: 'Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.
“Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:1 and 3 NIV)
Christ taught us that there is only one true God, the Father. This is the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ regarding the true God that we all must accept and adhere. He said, “Father…this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God.” Remember what Apostle Paul said, “Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.” Thus, the false teachers will confused and pervert the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ that there is only one true God, the Father.

How did the false teachers confused and perverted the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ that there is only one true God and that the Father is the only true God?

Brother Felix Y. Manalo Did Not Establish the Iglesia Ni Cristo

Brother Felix Y. Manalo Did Not Establish, But the One Who Preached The Iglesia Ni Cristo In The Philippines

The prophecy of the Lord Jesus Christ in John 10:16 refers to the re-establishment of His Church. He promised the re-emergence of the Church of Christ because the first century Church of Christ was apostatized. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself forewarned that many will fall away because many false prophets will rise and lead many astray:

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation, and put you to death; and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. And then many will fall away, and betray one another, and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. Matthew 24:9-11 RSV

Although apostasy take place in the first century Church of Christ, however, the Lord Jesus also prophesied that He has “other sheep” not of the fold or the first century Church of Christ, but He will bring them also and they will hear their voice and He will form them as “one flock” (referring to the re-emergence of the Church of Christ). However, the Lord Jesus Christ also said that there will be “one shepherd.”

The Importance of the Church of Christ to Man's Salvation

The Bible teaches the Importance of the Church of Christ to Man’s Salvation

________________________

It is true that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Savior and not the Church,
however, the Bible clearly teaches that it is the Church of Christ that the Lord Jesus Christ will save. Thus, if it is important to accept the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, it is also important to accept the true Church of Christ that He will save come Judgment Day.

Contrary to popular belief, the Holy Bible clearly teaches the importance of the Church of Christ to man’s salvation. Yes, it is clearly written in the Bible. This article aims to show the teachings of the Bible regarding the importance and value of the Church of Christ in attaining salvation come Judgment Day.

The True Founder of the Iglesia Ni Cristo

WHO IS THE TRUE FOUNDER
OF THE IGLESIA NI CRISTO
(CHURCH OF CHRIST)?

 Iglesia Ni Cristo Central Office

_________________________________

“The Lord Jesus Christ is the true Founder
of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) in
the Philippines and not Brother Felix Y. Manalo”

_________________________________

Many non-members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) thought that the founder of this Church was Brother Felix Y. Manalo. However, this information came not from this Church, nor from the members of this Church. The Iglesia Ni Cristo never taught that Brother Felix Y. Manalo is the founder of this Church.

Only the detractors of the Iglesia Ni Cristo who say that this Church was founded by Brother Felix Y. Manalo. We often heard the critics calling this Church as “Iglesia ni Manalo” (“Church of Manalo”) or “Iglesia ni Cristo ni Manalo” (“Church of Christ of Manalo”). However, these are derogatory remarks they made against the Iglesia Ni Cristo.

Ask members of this Church if who is the founder of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ), and all will surely answer, “The Lord Jesus Christ is the true founder of this Church and not Brother Felix Y. Manalo.”

This posts a problem to others. They could not accept that the Lord Jesus Christ is the true founder of this Church because the Iglesia Ni Cristo emerged only in 1914, in the Philippines. These people often ask, “Did the Lord Jesus Christ came down to the Philippines in 1914 to establish the Iglesia Ni Cristo?”

The truth is, the Iglesia Ni Cristo that emerged in the Philippines in 1914 was established by THE LORD JESUS Christ by means of prophecy.

Examining the Basis of Other Churches

ARE THEY TRULY BIBLICAL?
Examining The Basis Of The Doctrines Of Different Churches

While all the teachings upheld by the Iglesia Ni Cristo
(Church of Christ) are truly based on the Bible, however, careful
examination of others reveals that the doctrines of other
churches cannot be found in the Bible

MANY CLAIM THAT their doctrines are "biblical" or based on the teachings of the Bible because they know that no one can claim that their's is the true religion if they are not truly biblical. However, are they truly biblical? Let us examine the basis of the doctrines of different churches.

The Uniqueness of the Bible

 THE UNIQUENESS OF THE BIBLE

The Bible is Indeed the "Book of Books"

The Bible is unique, possessing
characteristics and attributes that cannot be
found in any other books.

THE BIBLE IS the “book of books.” Even though there are many “sacred books” used by different religions, the Bible is above all these “sacred books.” The Bible is unique, possessing characteristics and attributes that cannot be found in any books of different religions. What is the uniqueness of the Bible that makes it different from other religious books?

Iglesia ni Cristo: Why Only 1914?

THE IGLESIA NI CRISTO:
WHY ONLY 1914?

We Believe That The Bible Is God's Word

“What God Was, the Word Was”
The bible is the word of god

The Bible is the Sacred Scripture
of the glesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ)
and the sole basis of her faith.

Today we call our Sacred Scriptures “the Bible.” The Bible forms the foundation upon which every teaching and practice of the Iglesia Ni Cristo or the Church Of Christ are built. The Bible-centered method is one of the defining characteristics that make this Church unique. However, the attitude of some more liberal groups concerning the Bible departs even further from the proper reverence that should be accorded the Scriptures, and some who even profess to be Christians, calling the Bible only one of many “sacred texts.”

These same people consider the religious books of other religions, such as those of Buddhism and Hinduism, to be equally valid “expressions of God’s voice” and worthy of equal consideration and respect as the Bible. They consider all the “sacred texts” to be God’s various ways of speaking His truth to man, no matter how much the “truths” these books teach differ from and contradict one another and the Bible.

Still others give the Bible no respect at all, as they try to deconstruct it and attempt to read into the motives of the different writers, assigning them various social and political agendas. For them, there is no such thing as a sacred text. They see the Bible only as a human text that can be analyzed and criticized like any other literary works.

There are those who classify the Bible as a mere collection of myths, that is, something beyond the realm of truth. Others believe that the Bible is a mere work of man and just a product of human imagination.

However, in the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ), the Bible is considered indispensable. It is the ultimate authority and guide to the way the Church members think, feel, and act. Why do God’s words written in the Bible hold such power over their lives that they untiringly invite people to listen to and follow His words? The answer to this question rests on the distinctive attribute of the divine word that is also present in God Himself.
