Why there are people who reject God's messenger

WHY THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO REJECT, MOCK, DESPISE AND BRING FALSE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST THE MESSENGERS OF GOD

COMMISIONING MESSENGERS IS indeed “the work of God.” No religion can claim that they are the true religion if they reject the messengers of God. Regarding God’s commissioning of messengers, this is what the Lord Jesus Christ said:

“Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” (John 6:29 NKJV)

God sent messengers with specific task in different periods of time. The sending of messengers manifests God’s compassion:

“And the LORD God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messengers, rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place.” (II Chronicles 36:15 NKJV)

Because of God’s compassion to His people, He send warnings through His messengers. God also send His messengers to people “to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light”:

“I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, 18to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'” (Acts 26:17-18 NKJV)

Through God’s messengers like Apostle Paul, people will be taken away from the power of satan and be brought to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins. God send His messengers to people “to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light.” Thus, God undeed send messengers, and the commissioning  of messengers is the work of God.

However, it is not a new thing that people today rejects the messenger sent by the Lord God. This is also what people did with  messengers of God in the past. This is what the Bible testifies in II Chronicles 36:15-16:

“And the LORD God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messengers, rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place. But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.” (II Chronicles 36:15-16 NKJV)

During the time of ancient Israel, God sent messengers to His people as a manifestation of His compassion, but they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets. Thus, even before, people not only rejected the messengers of God but also mocked, despised and scoffed them. This also what happened to Prophet Jeremiah:

“Then they said, ‘Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us attack him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.’” (Jeremiah 18:18 NKJV)

So people will not give heed to his words, they “attack him with the tongue.” This is how Today’s English Version rendered this verse:

“Then the people said, ‘Let's do something about Jeremiah! There will always be priests to instruct us, wise men to give us counsel, and prophets to proclaim God's message. Let's bring charges against him and stop listening to what he says.’” (Jeremiah 18:18 TEV)

So that people will stop listening to what the messengers of God are teaching, they brought false and baseless charges against them. Thus attacking the messengers with words (attacking his character, bringing baseless charges, making false accusations, or doing “character assassinations”) is not a new thing. This what the people did to the messengers of God in the past, and this what they are doing today so that people will not listen to the words of God proclaimed by His messengers.

Who is the one truly behind the mocking, scoffing, attacking with words, bringing false charges and baseless accusations against the messengers of God? This is answered in Luke 8:12:

“Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.” (Luke 8:12 NKJV)

The devil’s plan is to take away the word out of the hearts of the people so that they will not believe and will not be saved, thus, the devil is the one who is behind the people who mock, despise, scoff, attack with words and bringing false and baseless accusations against the messengers of God so that they will stop listening.

Take note the difference between the messengers of God with those used by the devil. The messengers of God exposed falsehood so that people will arrive at biblical truth. While those used by the devil attack the character of those sent by God, mocking, despising and scoffing them, bringing false and baseless accusations against them so that people will stop listening tio the words of God proclaimed by His messengers.

CONCLUSION

Thus, the commissioning of messengers is the work of God, He sent His messengers to people “to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light.” While the mocking, despising, scoffing, attacking the character or person, and bringing false and baseless accussations against the mesengers of God are the works of the devil so that people will stop listening to the words of God proclaimed by God’s messengers.
