Why The Lord Jesus is Not God
BIBLICAL EVIDENCES THAT PROVE THE LORD
JESUS CHRIST
IS NOT THE TRUE GOD
Part 5
THE
Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) firmly believeS that the Lord Jesus Christ
is man in nature and He is not God because this is what the Bible explicitly
teaches. If we are going to examine the teachings written in the Bible, the
evidences are overwhelming that the Lord Jesus Christ is indeed not the true
God the Holy Scripture teaches.
ACCEPTING JESUS AS GOD WILL RESULT TO
ABSURDITIES
God cannot be
the author of confusion and absurdities. The Bible explicitly said that “God is
not the author of confusion” (cf. I
Cor. 14:33 KJV). What God wants is to all men to be saved and come to the
knowledge of the truth:
I Timothy 2:3-4 NKJV
“For
this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men
to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Do you know that
accepting Jesus as God will result to absurdities?
A
“SERVANT GOD”?
Accepting
Jesus as God will result to accepting that the Almighty God is a “servant” of
another God because the Bible explicitly said that Jesus is the servant of the
God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob:
Acts 3:13 NKJV
“The
God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant
Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was
determined to let Him go.”
This is absurd
because according to Jesus Himself, the true God is greater than all:
John 10:29 NKJV
“My
Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to
snatch them out of My Father's hand.”
And Jesus also
said that “A servant is not greater than his master”:
John 15:20 NKJV
“Remember
the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If
they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they
will keep yours also.”
Accepting
Jesus as God is accepting that “God is a servant of another God.” This truly an
absurdity. Then, whar is the truth? That the Lord Jesus is not God, but THE
Servant of the One True God, the Father.
A
“SUBJECT GOD”?
If Jesus is
God, then “God is subject to another God” because the Bible said after all
things are put under Jesus, He Himself “will also be subject to Him who put all
things under Him”:
I Corinthians 15:27-28 NKJV
“For
‘He has put all things under His feet.’ But when He says ‘all things are put
under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is
excepted. Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself
will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all
in all.”
A God subject
to another God? A God under another God? This is absurd and unacceptable to
true Christians because they uphold the teaching of the Bible that the true God
is above all:
Ephesians 4:6 NKJV
“One
God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
What is the
truth? Jesus is not God, but the Son of God that after all things put under
Him, the Son Himself will also be subject to the One True God who is above all,
the Father.
JESUS
HEARD THE TRUTH FROM HIMSELF?
Jesus clearly
said that He heard the truth from God:
John 8:40 NKJV
“But
now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from
God. Abraham did not do this.”
If Jesus is
God, and because the truth He has told the people Jesus heard it from God, then
Jesus heard the truth FROM HIMSELF?
What is the
truth? Just what the Lord jesus said, He is “a Man who has told you the truth
which I heard from God.”
JESUS
PRAYED TO HIMSELF?
There are
numerous verses of the Bible that mentioned Jesus prayed to God. This is one of
those verses:
Mark 15:34 NKJV
“And
at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi,
lama sabachthani?" which is translated, ‘My God, My God, why have You
forsaken Me?’”
If He is God, then
Jesus is praying to Himself? When He called “My God, My God” is Jesus referring
to Himself?
Now,if they will
say that Jesus is praying not to Himself but to another, then God praying to
another God? What an absurdity.
The Lord Jesus
Christ prayed to the One True God, the Father.
MARY
GAVE BIRTH TO GOD?
Mary gave
birth to the Lord Jesus:
Luke 2:6-7 NKJV
“So
it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be
delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in
swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them
in the inn.”
If they will
insist that Jesus is God, then Mary gave birth to God? This is unacceptable to
true Christians because it is clear in the Bible that:
Numbers 23:19 NKJV
“God
is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has
He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
If those who
believe in the divinity of Jesus will argue that when Mary gave birth to the
human Jesus, He was not God then because He was incarnated (God became man), then
they are insisting another absurdity. It is also absurd! Please ponder this: if
God became man when Jesus was here on earth as a human, then there was no God
in heaven!!!
What is the
truth? Mary gave birth to the SON of the One True God.
GOD
WAS CRUCIFIED AND DIED ON THE CROSS?
Jesus died on the cross. This is a fact
accepted by all who profess they are Christians. The Bible attest to this fact:
John 19:31-33 NKJV
“Therefore,
because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the
cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate
that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Then the
soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was
crucified with Him. But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already
dead, they did not break His legs.
Thus,
insisting that Jesus is God is insisting that God was crucified and died on the
cross. So, there was a three-day period in the history of the universe that God
is dead? Absurd indeed. This is a blasphemy against the true God. About the true
God, the Bible said:
I Timothy 1:17 NKJV
“Now
to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor
and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
What is the
truth? It is Jesus who was crucified and died on the cross, not God because
Jesus is not God, but the Son of the One True God.
GOD
IS SITTING AT HIS OWN RIGHT HAND?
The Bible
clearly said that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God:
Colossians 3:1 NKJV
“If
then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where
Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.”
If Christ is
God, then God is sitting at His own right hand! Absurd, isn’t?
Then, what is
the truth? The Lord jesus is sitting on the right hand of the One True God.
WHAT
IS THE TRUTH THEN?
What is the
truth about the Lord Jesus Christ clearly written in the Bible that must accepted
by those who wants to attain salvation?
I Timothy 2:3-4,5 NKJV
“For
this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men
to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
“For
there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.”
CONCLUSION
These are only
some of the numerous verses of the Bible that proves that the Lord Jesus is not
the One True God taught by the Holy Scriptures. Read the Bible and you will
clearly see that the Lord Jesus Christ is different from the Lord God, that
Jesus is the Son of the One True God, not God Himself.
The Iglesia Ni
Cristo (Church of Christ) uphold the truth written in the Bible that Jesus is
Lord, our Savior, and the Son of God. However, we also uphold the biblical
truth that the Father alone is the One True God.
